Our Club has a proud history of the great game of Bowls. Since 1889, that is 120 years we have been playing Bowls on the greens in Ashfield Park. Owing to the historical importance our greens are heritage listed.
The Club has just over 120 playing members. Of course new members are always welcome. We have an open day on the last Sunday of the month from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm. This is a great time to have a try of Bowls. You can always call the Club on 97986666 to arrange for a try.
Championship and formal games are administered by the two sub clubs The Men's Club & The Women's Club. Each Club has its own committee to look after play, organise tournaments and also to raise funds to offset some running costs.
Both Clubs also play games against other Clubs for approximately 10 weeks of the year on a home and away basis. This is known as Pennant Competition as the Club that finishes as Champions are awarded a Pennant Flag.
When not playing a formal game, (a formal game is usually where scores are recorded and a card handed in) members partake in a roll up.
The Greens are available for play most days. There are restrictions on Monday. On this day maintenance such as spraying and watering the greens takes place. There is also a restriction on Tuesday morning and Saturday morning when formal play by The Women's Club takes place
